The One Can Trust food bank, which has drop-off points throughout the town, worked with volunteers and staff from Bucks New University, during the five-day break in February where they donated goods to those living in Micklefield and Castlefield amid the cost of living crisis.
The half-term takeaway initiative, known as ‘One Can Provide’, was funded by Bucks New University and Buckinghamshire Council’s Helping Hands initiative.
Chair, Andy Ford said: “The number of people receiving parcels is extremely high, 850 this week alone, as the cost of living continues to make life a huge struggle.
“We also now provide extra community support to our clients, who are referred to us by organisations such as schools and the council.
“This includes contacting clients to find out more about their situation and signposting them to other help, running community cafe sessions, life skills, and the half-term provision we’ve just seen.
“The feedback so far tells us these services together are making a real difference.
“Thank you to the team and volunteers who make all this possible.”
