Harvest is traditionally a time to give thanks for the food we have to eat. The season isn’t over yet, but One Can Trust’s Harvest Appeal 2015 has seen the biggest, most generous response from the people of our community since the  foodbank launched in 2011. We want to give thanks for and to you too!

Within a week of beginning the appeal, we’d been contacted by schools, churches and a variety of other organisations and companies all of whom wanted to collect food for the bank.  We know some people have donated anonymously so we can’t do a total count, but as of today (17th October) we know over 70 groups have given food!

As a result, we spilled out of our stores at Big Yellow, we filled the reception at the Hub and a big room at the Wesley Methodist Church. We had to find a separate location to receive, store and sort food, and that’s the first time that’s happened! We have temporarily moved into an empty shop in Micklefield which is actually part of an exciting venture by another charity in the community and we’ll be sharing more about that soon.

We’ll miss some people in our thanks, we’re sorry! We’ll also be sending thank you certificates to you if we know you donated.

So, in no particular order as they say, here goes.

We know we’ve had donations from groups in Oakridge, Cadmore End, St Barts, Longwick and more!

Special thanks to a few people – and more of these will be coming too: Matt Knight for all your help in many ways, Alison Peach for speaking at lots of assemblies, Calvin and his team at the Hub, Tina and her team at Big Yellow Storage, Ruth and her team at Wesley Methodist church, Mike and his van, Bucks New Uni, Wycombe Abbey School. And of course all our teams of volunteers who have continued doing their thing at Big Yellow to keep food flowing out!

We’ll be back with more soon. There’s still time to collect for us and if you’d like to know more about how to collect for us all year round – get in touch.
